Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse Ski-Jump Target Game was produced by the American Toy Works whose main production facility was in Long Island City, NY. Based on the cover art I date the game to 1938. Copyright Walt Disney Enterprises, Hollywood, Calif. The box cover identifies Arthur Dritz as the game designer & the cover art is signed Joe Gould in the lower right corner. The game appears to be essentially complete but it is possible that it is short a wood shaft dart or 2. I don't know how many darts are original to the game. The box has 5 rubber tips but only 2 wood shafts. The rubber tips are not identical in shape or color. The orange(photographs as red) painted metal spring loaded target pistol works & it is marked Wyandotte Toys, Made in U.S.A. with a patent number. I am confident that the target pistol is original to the game. Note that the original box cover along the bottom edge between USA & ATWO says (in very small print) “Assembler Of Toys.” I have never seen wording like that but it implies that the ATWO company bought bits & pieces from other manufacturers to be assembled & sold as a finished product. The game appears to be barely used. It has all 7 original Walt Disney character target figures. They are all on skis. It has the original wood pieces to stand up the target board. There are 3 pieces of paper that were included in the box. The largest sheet is blue & has the printed instructions on how to play the game. The yellow paper lists other games, targets & craft sets made by ATWO – American Toy Works. The smallest one cautions the owner to remove the target board from wood stand when not in use. The original box measures 19 1/4” by 13 1/4” by 2”. Circa 1938.
